Reminder:
This game is not aesthetically themed for Steampunk garb, deco, or props. Please do not bring them into game.
This game expressly disallows Civil War garb, deco, icons, props, related events, and history. Do not bring these things into game.
This game is not about colonization or cultural hegemony, these themes will not be explored in this game.
No cultural appropriation of Earth cultures is allowed in this game. There was a history in North America for white trappers and frontier-expanding colonizers to appropriated the dress of indigenous peoples. We do not support this being perpetuated in our game, so please be mindful of your costuming.
No appropriation of Earth religions is allowed in this game.
All aesthetics listed here fall within 1882-1893.
Please refrain from using glow in the dark items as personal items, unless required for an accessibility aid.
All Props and Deco must be LARP safe. We strongly recommend avoiding glass.
Please do not bring real weapons to LARP as this violates our policies set forth in the rulebook - regardless of whether they are props and will not be used in combat.
Please also do not bring real candles or lanterns that require a real flame.
Decorations, or “deco,” are a great way to make a space feel like it belongs in the game world. A PC’s sleeping area can be transformed with a myriad of deco options: blankets, rugs, trinkets, wall hangings (as long as they cause no damage to the site’s amenities) and other small touches are welcome. The decoration of most in-game spaces is up to the players, and we look forward to seeing what you can bring.
Many buildings on site will have a very modern feel that can be covered up with wall hangings. These can range from decorated fabric, tapestries, or even other textiles, like posters or photographs. Wall hangings should be light fabric or durable paper.
Please do not remove wall mounted items placed by the site. When covering these items please be sure you do not damage or mark them in any permanent way. Please do not use thumbtacks to hang coverings, instead use poster putty, command hooks/strips, or string/paracord tied to the beams within a building.
The most common lighting in the Frontier was lanterns and candles. It was quite some time before gas lighting could be used. Of course, most if not all of our buildings at sites will have electricity, and players of course are encouraged to use this. But, for added atmosphere, players are welcome to use lanterns or fake/LED candles to light their spaces.
Please do not bring actual oil lamps, lamps that require flames, or real candles to game as they pose a fire hazard.
In the interest of preserving night vision of all players, we highly encourage players to use yellow or orange “realistic” lantern colors. If you have an LED lantern that uses white light, please use yellow, orange, or gray filter plastic on the lantern to temper the color. Another option is to use a lantern that has a brightness slider and lower the intensity while outside.
Please ensure that LED candles have orange/yellow flame coloration when turned on. If the candles have multiple color options please ensure they are not set to other colors unless asked to do so by a member of Plot. If you are using multicolor candles as part of your decor please let Plot know.
Please do not bring string lights to light in game areas
Put simply, all deco should look like it belongs in the time period of the game. If you bring photos, we suggest making them either black and white or sepia tone. Wood and brass frames were most popular at the time. Knickknacks and ornamental items were common in well established households, but often were not kept in the migration to the Frontier without a great deal of sentimental value. Blankets were most often woven out of durable materials.
Please remember to collect all decorations you place at the end of game so that nothing is left on site. Items left on site will be collected by staff and kept in the Lost and Found. If you are missing anything, we highly suggest that you reach out to staff as soon as possible to ask about it, then check the Lost and Found for the next game. However, it is not the job of staff to ensure these items get back to you, so please ensure you keep track of the deco you bring to game.
