The player Sam Houston runs a food plan (started by Phia Sinclair) during each event for Call of the Void. Sam offers the option of this food plan to anyone who attends a game. While this isn't an offering from the CotV organization or from staff, we greatly appreciate Sam's efforts in making sure that everyone has the option to eat, even if they cannot bring or prepare their own food.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Sam through Discord (@D20Owlbear) or via email (pouringfourthmysoul@gmail.com).
Food is prepared and served through the Main Lodge ("Saloon") during game. Sam's current character, Obadiah Ogden, will be overseeing this. Players are responsible for being present during meal times in order to receive their food.
New players always eat free. However, donations are always appreciated.
The meals offered include Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as Sunday breakfast. There will be vegetarian options available, but currently it is not possible to accommodate other dietary restrictions.
A full weekend of meals is $25. However, should you need assistance with the cost, please reach out to Sam directly - ens is happy to work with people who cannot afford the full amount. There will be some meals available for Chits (the in-game currency), but this will be limited. If you would like drinks covered on your 'tab' (which is to say, without having to pay with Chits), it will be an extra $5 for the weekend.
Payments are accepted through Venmo through @D20Owlbear. Payments must be made at least a week before game. In your payment note, please write "Meal Plan" and your player name. If you're not purchasing the whole weekend, please also note the meals that you are purchasing. If you include payment for drinks, please include your preferred beverage to ensure that Sam can try to have it on hand. If you need to request another method of payment, please reach out to Sam through one of the methods above.
Everyone who signs up for a meal plan, whether or not they are paying for it (new players see above), must also fill out a Meal Plan Form EACH GAME THEY SIGN UP. Your player name in your payment note should match your player name field on the Meal Plan Form. The form can be found here.
Please note that some situations (such as OOG or IG occurrences) may cause a slight shift in times. Please note that food is only guaranteed to those who have purchased the meal plan during the meal hours listed below. After the allotted times, food will be made available to others.
Most things should be wheat/gluten-free and and everything will be dairy free unless specifically stated! cheese and the like will be offered on the side in places such as a 'topping bar' to add to individual plates.
Hashbrown bake
Stuffed crescent rolls (vegetarian)
Seasonal fruit, yogurt
Leek and potato soup w topping bar
Roasted broccoli
Drop biscuits
Garlic butter chicken with vegetables
Veggie soup

The Saloon will always have water and some snacks available. If you did not purchase a meal plan but are at the game and very hungry, please let Sam know. If Sam is not available, please tell Phia (who plays Madame Cacy in game), but please try to tell Sam first. They will find something for you to ensure you do not go hungry. There will also be hot drinks like tea, coffee, and cocoa available by the fireplace in the Saloon to help you stay warm.
The Saloon is always hiring cooks and dishwashers to help with preparation and clean up. Cooks and dishwashers will be paid with Chits and will also receive a discount on their Meal Plan. Cooks MUST have a current Washington State Food Worker Card filed with Logistics Team before working in the kitchen. Please contact Sam if you are interested in this opportunity.
Donations are always welcome as Sam works very hard to cater to the needs of the Call of the Void community.
Another part of Saloon services run by players is the keeping of the fireplace. The main hall of our site is not heated, and Sam Houston is our main keeper of the hearth. Heating the main hall is greatly important to game in order to keep players warm, dry, and comfortable.
We greatly encourage donating to Sam for the resources needed to keep the game fires going. The best ways to help is to either donate money to ens' fund or bring firewood to game. It it takes around $35 of wood to heat the Saloon over a usual weekend, more if it's cold. As this is a service a player is providing, any and all help from the community is appreciated.
If you would like to donate money or bring firewood please either reach out to Sam through discord direct message (@D20Owlbear) or email Sam directly at pouringfourthmysoul@gmail.com. In the email, please put "CotV Saloon Fire" somewhere in the subject line and include details such as how much wood you will be bringing.
Additionally, we want all of our players regardless of the responsibilities they've taken on to have a good and engaging game. That's why we are always accepting volunteers to take a shift watching the Saloon's fire. If you would like to volunteer some of your time at game to helping tend the fire and keeping your fellow players warm, we would greatly appreciate it. To do so, please familiarize yourself with the rules about the Saloon fire below. You can either sign up for a shift through emailing Sam before game or talking to ens at the event before game starts. Thank you for helping make sure everyone gets to participate in game!
The fire must have a bucket filled with water beside it at all times in case of emergency. The bucket will be supplied and must always be positioned close enough to the fire so that it can be dowsed immediately.
There must be one designated person to watch the fire at all times from the point it is lit to the point that there are no more glowing embers. If you sign up for a shift, you must remain at the fire the whole time.
Do not build the fire too large. This will run the risk of lighting the chimney on fire or overheating the rocks of the hearth.
There is to be no physical fighting within 10-15 feet of a fire. Non-Combatant rules apply to all people around the fire. The person minding the fire can be targeted through the Non-Combatant rules as long as it is safe. PCs may not use this for an unfair advantage during game. If the character of the person tending the fire is knocked unconscious or killed, the person whose character killed them must immediately take up tending the fire.
