This game is a horror game first and foremost. It will be dealing with heavy themes that some may find disturbing.
Character death and negative consequences for in-game actions will always be a possibility, but so too are character successes and triumphs. We always approach such things with collaboration in mind, but this is a game that will always have the chance of potential failure.
Themes that this game will cover include: allusions to suicide, violence, gore, body horror, gaslighting of characters, possible violation of character’s consent (not sexual), addiction, allusions to and expressions of torture, graphic depictions of death of you or a loved one.
If you are concerned with certain player phobias, please reach out to Plot Team directly through email: plot@cotvlarp.com.

Call of the Void does not offer an official meal plan. However, members of our community do offer a meal plan that can be bought into by anyone attending game for each event. To see more information, please see the link here: Player Meal Plan
It is required for all players to go immediately to Check-In as soon as they get to site (even before unpacking). Please park outside the Main Lodge to check in. Wearing a KN95 or N95 mask is required at Check-In. To check in, players must bring:
A photo ID
Any weapons/props to be checked (All weapons must be checked before use in game, even if they passed the safety check during previous events. Any weapons that do not pass inspection cannot be used in game.)
Their Covid-19 vaccination card (if it has not been previously submitted to Logistics through email)
Once all checked in, players can move their car to a parking spot, unpack, and get ready for game.
If you will be late to Check-In, email Logistics at logistics@cotvlarp.com to make arrangements. Emails about late Check-In will not be accepted after 12:00 PM on the day of the event. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of Logistics Team.
For more information look at our Check-In page here.
Opening announcements are when staff gets together to go over site, game, and community rules. All players should attend these announcements in order to fully understand any necessary information about the event. After opening announcements, game will begin.
The official end of the event, or "game-off," will be called at 11 AM. After this will be closing announcements. Staff will share important news and information regarding the end of game, clean-up, and the coming weeks. Just like opening announcements, all players should gather for closing announcements.
Players are responsible for fully cleaning any spaces they used over the event. This means their sleeping area but also it is players' responsibility to ensure that their entire cabin is cleaned. If the player volunteered for an additional duty, such as cleaning a common area, then that must be done in addition to their cabin. Please don't leave without making sure everything is as clean as possible - how clean we leave site has a lot of bearing on our ability to continue to use the site. Our relationship with the owners is really important, so we really appreciate when players do a great job cleaning and even stick around to help clean the common areas.
Camp Kirby and Call of the Void have several policies that all attendees must abide by. Any violation of these rules will result in you being asked to leave game immediately. Please do not reach out directly to Camp Kirby with any questions. Direct all questions about the site to logistics@cotvlarp.com.
All vehicles must use the designated route to Camp via Marshall Road, following the road signs to Camp Kirby. Speed limits approaching Camp are 20-25MPH. Please respect Kirby's neighbors by following all posted speed limits.
Upon arrival, all vehicles entering camp property must reduce speed to 5 mph and stop at the gate. The gate must be closed behind each car. This is to keep unregistered guests off of camp property.
At the first honk sign the driver must stop and honk their horn to signal people and other cars before descending. Drivers must stop and honk at the bottom of the hill before ascending. It is recommended that drivers lower their car windows so that they can hear others’ honks.
Cars coming down the hill have the right of way. There is no room for 2-way traffic on the hill road.
Speed limit of 5 mph must be maintained throughout camp property.
Cars can be parked in main fields, in the grassy area by the upper totem pole. Please park in straight rows and not following the curve of the field. This allows for more cars to be fit into site.
Outside fires, including cooking stoves, are not allowed. Fires may be built only in existing and designated fireplaces and wood stoves.
Players must supply their own firewood. Do not take firewood from up the hill.
Any fire built must have a bucket filled with water beside it at all times in case of emergency. Players must supply their own buckets for this.
Any fire built must have one designated person to watch it at all times from the point it is lit to the point that there are no more glowing embers.
Do not build fires too large.
In the case of a fire being built in either fireplaces or wood stoves, you must make sure the flue is open. If you cannot be sure, do not build the fire.
There is to be no physical fighting within 10-15 feet of a fire. Non-Combatant rules apply to the people around the fire. The person minding the fire can be targeted through the Non-Combatant rules as long as it is safe. PCs may not use this for an unfair advantage during game.
Most of the cabins at Camp Kirby can have a space heater in them. Please note that the Seagull and Fir Tree cabins do not have outlets in the main rooms.
Please avoid space heaters that require any flame to heat. Electrical heaters are allowed.
The electricity at game allows for one space heater per cabin. Do not use more than one.
Only use low-wattage space heaters (750 watts or below). This is an older site and does not have a robust electrical setup.
Plot Camp is at Herman's Hut (#22)
Check-In will be held at the Main Lodge (#9)
Public Bathrooms are Wassu and Casa de Pepe (#6 and #11) While the bathrooms are labeled in the binary, please use whatever bathrooms you are most comfortable with.
Parking is available in the field between the totem pole and the Health House (#17)
For information on the cabins/available bunks, please see the bunk list.
Please note that the Main Lodge is not heated, however we have a player who devotes their time to keeping a fire going in the fireplace there. To donate to the fire fund, please see the bottom of the Player Meal Plan page.
Players are responsible for their health and wellness while at game and are responsible for their medical care. If it is necessary to have someone attend to you, we strongly suggest that you have a trusted person who will be present at game with you who is responsible for administering medical attention should it be needed if you are not capable of assisting yourself. No one on staff can distribute/administer medication.
If you have any medical needs, they are not required to be reported to staff. If you would like to make staff aware of a medical condition (again, it is not required), you may let Logistics Team know through email and include who your trusted person is. Making staff aware is voluntary and does not put any expected responsibility on staff to take over care for you in the event of a medical emergency.
Please see our Accessibility Policies page for more information about accommodations. If you need health accommodations for your sleeping arrangements, please reach out to Logistics Team via logistics@cotvlarp.com. Limited space is available, so please message as soon as you can.
